The Center for Strategic and Budgetary Assessments is pleased to announce the addition of four new staff members. We are very excited about the new expertise and level of excellence this personnel growth will bring to CSBA, Executive Director Andrew Krepinevich declared. Taking on Director of Public Affairs responsibilities is Alise Frye. Ms. Frye will be responsible for managing external communications and events for CSBA. She comes to the organization with a wide range of experience, including serving on Capitol Hill, with a small advocacy organization and as a contracted analyst for the Air Force at the Pentagon. Dr. James Jay Carafano comes to CSBA as a Senior Fellow. Dr. Carafano retired from the Army after 24 years of service, most recently as Executive Editor of Joint Force Quarterly. He received his MA and PhD in from Georgetown University. Dr. Carafano has published several books, including After D-Day: Operation Cobra and the Normandy Breakout and the forthcoming Waltzing into the Cold War. His first report for CSBA is Threats to the American Homeland: A Post 9/11 Diagnostic Assessment, for release later this year. Also joining CSBA as a Senior Analyst in early April is Robert Work. During a distinguished 27-year career in the Marine Corps, Mr. Work held a range of key command, leadership, and management positions. He also holds advanced degrees from the US Naval Postgraduate School, the University of Southern California, and The Johns Hopkins University. CSBA will be releasing his report, The Challenge of Maritime Transformation: Is Bigger Better?, in April. Kurt Guthe joined CSBA as a Senior Analyst earlier this year. He has over 20 years experience in studying strategic nuclear forces, ballistic missile defense, nonnuclear strike capabilities, and arms control. Mr. Guthes current research is centered on issues related to post-Cold War deterrence, including those raised by the Nuclear Posture Review.
