Kevin Chlan is the 2019/20 Navy Fellow assigned to CSBA as a part of the Federal Executive Fellowship program.
He is a current, active duty Navy Commander with over 19 years of service. As an F/A-18 Super Hornet pilot, Kevin recently commanded Strike Fighter Squadron THREE ONE, where he deployed in support of Operation INHERENT RESOLVE. In seven prior deployments, he participated in various exercises in the Western Pacific, Middle East, and European theaters, as well as Operations ENDURING FREEDOM and NEW DAWN over Afghanistan and Iraq. He has led over 75 combat missions in the F/A-18 with more than 3,500 hours and 900 carrier arrested landings. Kevin graduated from the Navy Strike Fighter Weapons School (TOPGUN) in 2006 and instructed as a Forward Air Controller (Airborne). He also served as the assistant director to the Joint Targeting School (J7 directorate), where he provided graduate level training to Combatant Commands and Allied partners in the integration, synchronization, and coordination of joint targeting, weaponeering, Battle Damage Assessment (BDA), and Collateral Damage Estimation (CDE) in support of national military strategy and campaign plans.
Kevin is a recipient of the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Strike/Flight Air Medal (four awards), and the Louis D. Liskin Award for Excellence in Management.
