...Katherine Blakeley, a defense budget analyst with the Center for Strategic and Budgetary Assessments (CSBA), a Washington think tank, said Feb. 1 that the 40-ship limit and the down-select to one hull type could free up to $1 billion in 2017 and $4 billion over the Future Years Defense Plan (FYDP), a five-year look ahead. Her findings were published in a new CSBA report, “7 Areas to Watch in the FY17 Defense Budget.”
