Mobile Missile Defense Seen Shifting Asia-Pacific Strategy

Treating land-based missile defense in a completely different way could alter the character of military strategy in the Asia-Pacific and certain other important global theaters, according to recent studies by the Center for Strategic and Budgetary Assessments (CSBA).

“The U.S. military got used to having air superiority over the last 30 years and focused instead on ballistic missile defense. Now we have to defeat large air and cruise missile attacks like we did during the Cold War,” says Bryan Clark, CSBA defense analyst. “Ground forces are therefore developing air defenses that are getting smaller and more mobile.”...
