Dao Tran is a Research Assistant at the Center for Strategic and Budgetary Assessments. Her research focuses on nuclear strategy, U.S. defense strategy, defense budgeting, and civil-military relations. Prior to joining CSBA, Ms. Tran conducted research for the National Security Policy Center in Charlottesville, Virginia and was previously a War Studies Fellow at the Institute for the Study of War.

Ms. Tran holds a B.A. in Foreign Affairs from the University of Virginia and an M.A. in International Relations from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) with a concentration in strategic studies. At SAIS, she worked as a graduate research assistant for Dr. Nora Bensahel and LTG David Barno (Ret.) on projects related to military organization and the experience of combat. Ms. Tran is a member of the Rumsfeld Foundation through the Graduate Fellowship program. She speaks French and Vietnamese.
