CSBA Welcomes New Director of External Affairs

The Center for Strategic and Budgetary Assessments (CSBA) is pleased to welcome Jamie Graybeal as its new Director of External Affairs.

"Jamie brings a unique and highly valued set of communication experiences to our team,” said President Andrew Krepinevich. “He has led public affairs efforts at four of the Department of Defense’s combatant commands, served on the staff of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Public Affairs, and coordinated the outreach activities of the Presidential Military Compensation and Retirement Modernization Commission.”

Chairman of the Board Nelson M. Ford added, “CSBA has long been recognized as a leading source of independent research for our country’s decision makers. The center’s participation in the public debate surrounding national defense issues promises to play an even larger role as national leaders wrestle with the implications of the evolving nature of warfare on future defense budgets. Jamie’s efforts to facilitate the center’s involvement in these conversations will be central to our future success.”

Jamie was originally commissioned as a Surface Warfare Officer in the U.S. Navy in 1985 but served the balance of his military career as a Public Affairs Officer. His tours included assignments as Deputy Director of Public Affairs at U. S. European Command, Director of Public Affairs at U.S. Strategic Command, Director of Public Affairs at U.S. Central Command, and the Assistant Chief of Staff for Communication at NORAD and U. S. Northern Command. His senior civilian experiences include serving as the Deputy Public Affairs Officer for the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan and writing communication strategies for the U.S. Navy’s most senior leaders while serving as the Assistant Chief of Information for Communication Plans, Integration and Assessment.
