The Center for Strategic and Budgetary Assessments is pleased to welcome Bryan Clark as Senior Fellow on the center’s Strategic Studies team.
“We are extremely fortunate to have a strategist of Bryan's caliber join our team," said President Andrew Krepinevich. “He possesses a rare combination of advanced scientific and technical expertise on subjects ranging from electromagnetic warfare to nuclear propulsion, as well as the ability to place them within the bigger picture in a strategic context."
A nuclear submariner, Bryan Clark enlisted in the Navy in 1982. His 25-year military career included assignments as Engineering Division and Assistant Weapons Officer on USS ALABAMA (SSBN-731), Chief Engineer on USS GEORGIA (SSBN-729), Executive Officer of Moored Training Ship 635 (Ex-Sam Rayburn), and Operations Officer at Naval Nuclear Power Training Unit. He later served on the Navy headquarters staff from 2004 to 2011, leading studies in the Assessment Division and participating in the 2006 and 2010 Quadrennial Defense Reviews. During this time his primary focus was on modeling and simulation, strategic planning and institutional reform and governance.
In joining CSBA, Bryan Clark leaves his position as Special Assistant to the Chief of Naval Operations and Director of his Commander’s Action Group, where he led development of Navy strategy and implemented new initiatives in electromagnetic spectrum operations, undersea warfare, expeditionary operations and personnel and readiness management.
Mr. Clark holds a Master of Science in National Security Studies from the National War College and a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Philosophy from the University of Idaho. He is the recipient of the Department of the Navy Superior Service Medal and the Legion of Merit.
